Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

***************
Lick, the first book in Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive NA contemporary series is all kinds of awesome. This is the first NA book I’ve read, I’m not that convinced of the category, but if this is what I can look forward to, I may have been converted.

Everyone loves a sexy, tattooed rock star and David Ferris is more than you could hope for.  He’s the guitarist for Stage Dive, the hottest rock band going around. Evelyn accidentally wakes up married to Mr Hot Stuff after a slightly alcohol fuelled 21st birthday in Las Vegas. Of course she’s taken aback by the marriage and that she’s married to pretty much the hottest guy she’s ever seen. (Trust me, David is so many kinds of hot!) The very first page draws you into Evelyn’s mind and it’s a funny, sexy, steamy road from then on.

Evelyn is the good girl with a plan. She lives at home and is studying to be an architect. I really liked Evelyn’s character; she’s tall, curvy, mature and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s a real girl with real insecurities. Getting married in Vegas does not fit in her plan and she thinks she can just sweep it under the rug, but when the paparazzi get a hold of the news her life as she knows it is now over. I love how she handles her situation and I’m not sure I could deal as well as she does. Hoping to get her marriage annulled ASAP is the only thing on her mind when David calls and offers for her to stay with him until all the paperwork and the hype dies down. After they spend a few steamy days together at David’s house, getting to know one another Ev starts to have feelings for him. David is more than a swoon inducing character, he is a make you forget your name-pantie twisting-drool inducing man that will have you wanting to go out to score your own piece of hot rock star. They agree not to annul the wedding, but of course there are plenty of secrets and trust issues (mostly David’s) they have to work through before they can be a proper couple. I was turning pages almost faster than I could read, hoping with my whole heart these two characters got their happily ever after.

Lick is filled with enough angst, drama and blush inducing scenes that will not disappoint. Lick is a one sitting read that will have glued to the pages and forgetting about everything around you; bodily functions, housework, children and needy pets will fall by the wayside whilst you finish this book. I love the way Kylie tells her stories and can’t wait for book two in this series. If, like me, you’re not keen on the New Adult category, give Lick a go and tell me you won’t be giving the genre another try.
5/5
